아줄레주 갤러리는 오는 6월 1일부터 약 한 달간 곽수영, 지이호 작가의 2인전을 선보인다.

형언하기 모호한 것 따위를 고뇌하는 데 삶을 헌신하기로 한 이번 전시의 두 작가는 문자언어로 닿을 수 없는 목표점을 시각언어로 보여준다. 곽수영은 경험이 기억되었을 때 변형되는 이미지들을 담아내며 그 모호한 간극을 탐구하고, 지이호는 불완전한 인체를 인간이 공유할 수 있는 가장 근본적인 감각으로 보고 과도기 상태로서의 유대를 반성하게 한다. 그러나 전시의 제목 High Poly가 지칭하듯, 두 작가는 구체성이 강한 대상을 그려내고 있다. 곽수영의 작품 속 화면에 등장하는 모든 인물과 소품들은 해상도가 높은 ‘고화질’처럼 명확히 표현되었고, 지이호의 작품 역시 눈 앞에 인물이 실재하는 듯 사실적으로 묘사되었으며 작품 자체가 High Poly의 입체 상태로 우리를 마주한다. 그러나 이 이미지는 작업의 결과값일 뿐이라, 작품이 지나온 무수한 단계를 역으로 거슬러야 작가의 의도를 마주할 수 있다. 이번 전시를 통해 작품의 이미지가 가지는 독자성을 이해하고, 연출된 화면 아래의 서사를 읽어낼 수 있는 기회가 되기를 바란다.

The two artists in this exhibition, who decided to devote their lives to struggling with things that are ambiguous to describe, use visual language to reach a goal that cannot be reached through written language. Kwak Sooyoung explores the ambiguous gap by capturing images that transform when experiences are remembered, and Jiiho sees the imperfect human body as the most fundamental sense that humans can share and makes them reflect on the bond as a transitional state. However, as the title of the exhibition, High Poly, indicates, the two artists are depicting objects with strong concreteness. In Kwak's works, all the characters and props appearing on the canvas were clearly expressed as if they were 'high-definition' with high resolution. Jiiho's works were also depicted realistically as if the characters were real in front of our eyes, and the work itself presented us in a three-dimensional state of High Poly. However, since this image is only the result of the work, the artist's intention can only be encountered by going backwards through the countless stares that the work has passed through. It is hoped that this exhibition will provide an opportunity to understand the independence of the image of the work and to read the narrative beneath the directed canvas.
