SUPERPOSITION은 두 개의 파동이 각각의 고유한 성질을 잃지 않고 중첩된 것을 의미하며, 제품 디자이너 서정선과 그래픽 디자이너 김종민이 만나 유일무이한 컨셉의 가구, 소품, 액자 등을 기획하고 제작한다. 이 중 도자, 병풍, 소반 시리즈와 같이 이름만 들으면 옛 한국의 공예품 형태가 언뜻 떠오르지만, SUPERPOSITION이 재해석해서 만들어낸 실제 작품은 고전 뿌리와 절제된 현대적인 이미지, 혹은 동양과 서양이 만나 또 다른 시너지 효과를 일으킨다. 그룹은 이와 같은 방법으로 희미해지는 이전을 기억하고 앞으로 다가올 미래와 자연의 모습을 떠올리며 작품을 통해 이야기를 전달하고 공생하는 방안을 모색한다. 아래는 작가노트에서 발췌된 한 작품에 대한 이야기이다.

SUPERPOSITION is a physics term referring to the point in which two waves overlap without losing their unique properties. Seo Jungsun and Kim Jongmin, a product and a graphic designer combine their talents in hopes of creating objects that will resonate serene Korean traditions within modern living ambiance much affected by the Western architectural designs. SUPERPOSITION’s main strength is to incorporate maximalist design with a minimal structural piece to emphasize the group’s character. Below is a description of a work display in this show derived from the group’s notes.
